Madras Solider’s Board was constituted in the year 1919. In 1943 Madras Provincial Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Board was establishment and the old Madras Soldiers’ Board was absorbed. The entire expenditure on the Provincial Board was being borne by the Madras Government and the entire expenditure on the District Boards was being met by the Defence Department.               On 15 th June 1948 Deputy Director of Resettlement and Employment was appointed as Ex-Officio Secretary of the Provincial boards and Employment officers of the Employment Organisation in each district were appointed Ex-Officio Secretaries of the respective District Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Boards.               In 1951 the Madras Provincial Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Board was renamed as Madras States Soldiers’ , Sailors’ and Airmen’s Board. In 1969, Madras State was renamed as Tamil Nadu. And hence Madras States Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Board was renamed as Tamil Nadu Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Board.               The Directorate of Ex-Servicemen’s welfare was created on 29/07/1974 by amalgamating the Offices of the Tamil Nadu Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Board and Amalgamated Fund Office, Madras which was brought under the administrative control of the Social Welfare Department. The Secretary Tamil Nadu Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Board and the Secretary Amalgamated fund were re-designated as Joint Director and Deputy Director respectively.               The Directorate was brought under the administrative control of Public Department from 26/07/1976 with the Deputy Secretary to the Government, Public (Miscellaneous) Department as its Ex-Officio Director.                மெட்ராஸ் படைவீரர் வாரியம் 1919-ஆம் ஆண்டு உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. பின்னர் 1943 ஆம் ஆண்டில் மெட்ராஸ் மாகாண முப்படை வீரர் வாரியம் துவங்கப்பட்டு மெட்ராஸ் படைவீரர் வாரியதுடன் இணைக்கப்பட்டது. மெட்ராஸ் மாகாண முப்படை வீரர் வாரியத்தின் முதல் செலவினமும் அப்போதைய மெட்ராஸ் மாகாண அரசினால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டது மற்றும் மாவட்ட முப்படை வீரர் வாரியத்துக்கான செலவினங்கள் அணைத்தும் இராணுவத் துறையினால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டது.                மெட்ராஸ் படைவீரர் வாரியம் 1919-ஆம் ஆண்டு உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. பின்ன 1943-ஆம் ஆண்டில் மெட்ராஸ் மாகாண முப்படைவீரர் வாரியம் துவங்கப்பட்டு மெட்ராஸ் படைவீரர் வாரியத்துடன் இணைக்கப்பட்டது. மெட்ராஸ் மாகாண முப்படைவீரர் வாரியத்தின் மொத்த செலவினமும் அப்போதைய மெட்ராஸ் மாகாண அரசினால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டது மற்றும் மாவட்ட முப்படைவீரர் வாரியத்துக்கான செலவினங்கள் அனைத்தும் இராணுவத் துறையினால் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளப்பட்டது.                1948-ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜீன் 15-ம் மறுவாழ்வு மற்றும் வேலைவாய்ப்புத்துறை துணை இயக்குநர் மெட்ராஸ் மாகாண வாரியத்தின் அலுவல் வழி செயலாளராக நியமனம் செய்யப்பட்டார். மாவட்ட வேலைவாய்ப்பு அலுவலர்கள் அந்தந்த மாவட்டத்தின் முப்படைவீரர் வாரிய செயலாளகளாக நியமனம் செய்யப்பட்டனர்.                1951-ம் ஆண்டு மெட்ராஸ் மாகாண முப்படைவீரர் வாரியம், மெட்ராஸ் மாநில முப்படைவீரர் வாரியமாக பெயர் மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டது. 1969-ஆம் ஆண்டு மெட்ராஸ் மாநிலம் “தமிழ்நாடு” என்று பெயர் மாற்றப்பட்ட பின்னர் தமிழ்நாடு முப்படைவீரர் வாரியமாக மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டது.                தமிழ்நாடு முப்படைவீரர் வாரிய அலுவலகம் மற்றும் தொகுப்பு நிதி அலுவலகம் ஆகியவை ஒருங்கிணைக்கப்பட்டு 29/07/1974 அன்று முதல் முன்னாள் படைவீரர் நல இயக்ககமாக உருவாக்கப்பட்டு சமூக நல துறையின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் செயல்பட்டு வந்தது. செயலாளர் தமிழ்நாடு முப்படைவீரர் வாரியம் மற்றும் செயலாளர் தொகுப்பு நிதி ஆகிய பதவிகள் முறையே இணை இயக்குநர் மற்றும் துணை இயக்குநர் பதவிகளாக மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டன.                பின்னர், 26/07/1976 முதல் “முன்னாள் படைவீரர் நல இயக்ககம்” பொதுத்துறையின் கட்டுப்பாட்டின் கீழ் கொணரப்பட்டு அரசு துணை செயலாளர், பொது (பல்வகை) துறை அவர்கள் முன்னாள் படைவீரர் நல இயக்ககத்தின் அலுவல் வழி இயக்குநராக நியமனம் செய்யப்பட்டு இயங்கி வருகிறது.
